IV. CONSENT CALENDAR
Minutes of the regular meeting held on April 21, 2004.
Upon Motion by Commissioner Greenberg and second by
Commissioner Bussing, the Minutes of April 21, 2004, were approved
by unanimous vote.
V. DISCUSSION ITEMS
A. ORAL REVIEW OF CITY COUNCIL ACTION
Councilmember Benson reported that City Council continued
the Library Mural project and the El Paseo Monument Signs
to its meeting of June 10. The Library Committee will review
the three mural finalists at its next regularly scheduled
meeting.
Council approved the 20 designs for the El Paseo Artistic
Bench program as well as $10,000 to commission an artist
of the Commission's choosing. The Commission's first
choice was Michael Todd's design whose bench was priced
at $10,000.
Mr. Twedt mentioned that David Fletcher recommended that
prior to the placement of the bench that the sponsor have a
letter of endorsement from the property owner supporting the
placement of the bench.
It was moved by Commissioner Bussing and seconded
by Commissioner Greenberg to retain the Commission's
choice of Michael Todd's bench design in the amount of
$10,000.00 with the understanding that Mr. Todd makes
alterations to the current design. Motion carried unanimously.
Although Council previously approved Michael Todd's
proposal as one of the 20 bench designs, as well as
$10,000.00 for the Commission to sponsor a bench, it was
suggested by Councilmember Benson that Mr. Twedt have
Council approve Michael Todd's design as the specific
bench that will be sponsored by the Commission.
