CITY OF PALM DESERT – PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE
STAFF REPORT
MEETING DATE: October 11, 2023
PREPARED BY: Michelle Nance, Deputy Clerk I
REQUEST: PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING SCHEDULE
RECOMMENDATION:
The Public Safety Committee is requested to change its regular meeting schedule to one of the
following options:
•1st Monday of each month at 3:00 p.m.
•2nd Tuesday of each month at 3:30 p.m.
•3rd Wednesday of each month at 9:00 a.m.
•4th Wednesday of each month at 9:00 a.m.
BACKGROUND:
Currently, both the Public Safety Committee and the Housing Commission meetings are
scheduled to take place on the same day and time. This overlap poses a significant challenge
for members of the public who wish to attend both meetings, as well as for City staff who are
required to attend and support these meetings.
The Housing Commission typically meets the day prior to the City Council/Housing Authority
meetings. This schedule ensures that the Housing Commission can act on time sensitive matters
prior to the City Council/Housing Authority. Therefore, the Public Safety Committee is requested
to select a new regular meeting schedule to eliminate the existing schedule conflict.
