CALL TO ORDER A Regular Meeting of the Public Safety Commission was called to order by Chair Taylor on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at 3:31 p.m held Hybrid via Zoom and in the Administrative Conference Room, City Hall, located at 73-510 Fred Waring Drive, Palm Desert, California. 2. The suspect was arrested for an outstanding grand theft felony warrant and two misdemeanor drug warrants. She was transported and booked at the county jail in Indio. Palm Desert Station Significant Incident Report for Friday, December 30, 2022 12:03 PM – Warrant / Narcotic Arrest: Deputies of the Palm Desert Traffic Team conducted a bicycle stop at Highway 111 and Monterey Avenue, Palm Desert. A 60-year-old male of Indio was driving westbound in eastbound lanes of traffic. A record check revealed he had an active warrant for use of a stolen credit card. A search revealed he also had 9 debit cards that were not issued to him, a checkbook not in his name, and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and booked at the county jail in Indio. 6:08 PM – Grand Theft Investigation: Deputies with the Palm Desert Special Enforcement and Palm Desert Business District Team conducted a follow-up reference a grand theft incident that occurred on 12/02/2022, where four rims and tires were removed and stolen from a truck. During the investigation, the suspect vehicle and driver were identified. The vehicle was located with an open door and unattended at in the 43000 block of Palmilla Circle. A knock and talk was conducted at the residence, and at that time, the suspect exited the residence through the rear and fled the location. In plain view inside the suspect vehicle, a firearm was taped below the steering column. The suspects family confirmed that he arrived in the vehicle and is the only one who drives it. The suspect is a convicted felon and is prohibited person from possessing any firearms. If contacted, please approach with caution as he is believed to be armed and dangerous. The suspect vehicle was towed to the station for evidence and a search warrant will be written to remove firearm from inside the vehicle and to remove the stolen rims/tires from the suspect vehicle. The suspect is outstanding. 6:30 PM – Domestic Violence Arrest: Deputies conducted follow up to domestic violence/kidnapping case from the previous week. An 18-year-old male of Indio was contacted via telephone and asked to come to the station. The suspect responded and was arrested for sending his ex-girlfriend text messages after he was served an emergency protective order. He was booked at the county jail in Indio. 7:11 PM – Elder Abuse / Resisting Arrest: Deputies responded to a Mobile Home Park in the 50000 block of Highway 74 regarding a reported battery and after a brief standoff, arrested a 48- year-old male transient of Indio. Further investigation revealed the suspect assaulted his elderly father at the residence. He was booked at the county jail in Indio. Palm Desert Station Significant Incident Report for Saturday, December 31, 2022 10:41 AM – Stolen Vehicle / Narcotics / Warrant Arrest: Deputies received an automated license plate reader notification and located a stolen vehicle at Hospitality Ln and Hwy 111, in the city of Palm Desert. A 27-year-old male of San Bernardino was arrested for vehicle theft, possession of a controlled substance, and parole violation warrant. He was booked at the county jail in Indio. 1:00 PM – Petty Theft / Warrant Arrest: Deputies responded to a retail store in the 72000 block of Hwy 111, in the city of Palm Desert, reference petty theft investigation. A 52-year-old male transient of Palm Desert was arrested for petty theft, 3 outstanding felony warrants for fraud, and 3 misdemeanor narcotics warrants. He was booked at the county jail in Indio. 9:18 PM – Domestic Violence Arrest: Deputies responded to a report of domestic violence at the 74000 block of Technology Drive, Palm Desert. They contacted and arrested a 43-year-old female resident of 29 Palms for assaulting her spouse and causing visible injuries. She was booked at the county jail in Indio. Palm Desert Station Significant Incident Report for Sunday, January 1, 2023 12:34 AM – Domestic Violence Arrest: Deputies responded to the 46000 block of Ryway Pl, in the city of Palm Desert, reference a domestic violence investigation. A 19-year-old female of Desert Hot Springs bit her ex-boyfriend on the right cheek causing an approximately one-inch laceration. The suspect subsequently fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle, momentarily pinning him against a wooden fence, as she was fleeing. The victim suffered minor abrasions to his left shoulder and left thigh. The suspect later turned herself in to Indio Police Department and was subsequently arrested for domestic violence. She was booked at the county jail in Indio. 3:30 AM – Domestic Violence Arrest: Deputies responded to a domestic violence incident at a resort in the 74000 block of Country Club Dr, Palm Desert. Deputies arrested a 31-year-old female of San Diego, for domestic violence. She was booked at the county jail in Indio. 2:30 PM – Driving Under the Influence Arrest: Deputies responded to a traffic collision at Monterey Ave and Fred Waring Dr., Palm Desert. A 31-year-old male of Fallbrook was arrested for driving under the influence. He was booked at the county jail in Indio. Palm Desert Station Significant Incident Report for Tuesday, January 3, 2023 2:08 Hours – Fraud Arrest: Deputies of the Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team (SET) conducted a vehicle check at San Pablo at San Gorgonio. SET members contacted a 45-year-old male of Rancho Mirage. He was wanted for fraud cases that dated back to July 2022 throughout the city of Palm Desert. He was arrested on multiple fraud charges and booked at the county jail in Indio. 9:41 PM – Warrant Arrest: Deputies of the Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team conducted follow up in the 48000 block of Beverly Drive and contacted a 32-year-old male of Palm Desert, who had a felony warrant for drug sales. He was arrested and booked at the county jail in Indio. Palm Desert Station Significant Incident Report for Wednesday, January 4, 2023 10:21 AM – Public Intoxication Arrest: Deputies responded to the area of Country Club and Washington regarding a welfare check. A 20-year-old male of Bermuda Dunes was arrested for public intoxication. He was booked at the county jail in Indio. 1:09 PM – Petty Theft / Narcotics Arrest / Warrant Arrest: Deputies of the Palm Desert Business District Team responded to a retail store in the 34000 block of Monterey Ave., City of Palm Desert, reference a theft. A 4-year-old male of Indio was arrested for theft, possession of methamphetamine and an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. He was booked at the county jail in Indio. 7:00 PM – Warrant / Narcotics Arrest: Deputies of the Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team conducted a traffic stop on Washington and 42nd Ave. The driver, a 37-year-old male of Palm Desert was found to have three outstanding narcotics warrants. A search of the suspects vehicle was conducted, and it was determined that he was in possession of two grams of fentanyl. He was booked at the county jail in Indio. Date 01/05/23 01/06/23 01/07/23 01/08/23 01/09/23 01/10/23 01/11/23 # of calls 162 137 92 84 182 178 179 Palm Desert Station Significant Incident Report for Thursday, January 5, 2023 4:46 PM – Pepper Spray Arrest / Warrant Arrest: Deputies of the Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team conducted a traffic stop on Fred Waring and Highway 111 and contacted the occupants of the vehicle, a 39-year-old male of Thousand Palms and a 38-year-old male of Palm Desert. A records check showed the first subject had three outstanding misdemeanor warrants. He was also found to be in possession of a cannister of pepper spray. Since the subject had multiple felony convictions, it is illegal for him to possess the pepper spray. He was arrested and booked at the county jail in Indio. 11:04 PM – Attempt Murder / Domestic Violence / Rape: Deputies responded to an apartment in the 74600 block of Driftwood, Palm Desert, reference a rape in progress. The deputies arrived within minutes and located the suspect trying to jump out of the second story window. He retreated into the apartment when he saw deputies. The victim was able to run out of the front door and the suspect was detained. The suspect strangled, raped, and threatened to kill the victim among other criminal acts. The suspect, a 24-year-old male of Coachella, was booked for the previous charges and additional felonies in addition to his felony domestic violence warrant and two misdemeanor warrants, one of which is for resisting arrest. He was booked at the county jail in Indio. Palm Desert Station Significant Incident Report for Friday, January 6, 2023 1:07 AM – Driving Under the Influence Arrest: Deputies responded to the 47300 block of Highway 74 regarding a traffic collision. A 33-year-old female of Rancho Mirage was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after her vehicle collided with a parked RV. She blew a .24% BAC at the station. She was booked at the county jail in Indio. 10:59 AM – Vehicle Theft Arrest: Deputies of the Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team conducted an area check for an automatic license plate reader hit on a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was later located parked in a parking lot near the area of Country Club Dr and Washington St. Moments later, the suspect began to drive away. The suspect, a 46-year-old male of Palm Desert was detained without incident. He was arrested for vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, and probation violation. He was booked at the county jail in Indio. 12:12 PM – Robbery: Deputies responded to an apartment complex in the 73000 block of Country Club regarding a robbery. The victim stated he was going to sell an iPhone to a subject from the OfferUp resale application, when the suspect put a gun to his head, threatened to kill him, and took the phone. Surveillance video from the property provided the license plate of the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was later located in the City of Desert Hot Springs. A 17-year-old juvenile was positively identified as the suspect. The Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team authored search warrants for the vehicle and residence. A fully loaded .45 caliber pistol, several “ghost” parts to guns, loaded magazines, over 300 blackout rounds, and the victim’s cell phone were all recovered. The juvenile was arrested for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and criminal threats. He was booked into Indio Juvenile Hall. 7:29 PM – Warrant Arrest: Deputies with the Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team and Business District Team served a search warrant regarding a robbery investigation within the 66300 block of Flora. A 35-year-old male of Desert Hot Springs was arrested for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. He was booked at the county jail in Indio. Palm Desert Station Significant Incident Report for Saturday, January 7, 2023 5:20 PM – Overdose Death: Deputies were dispatched to the 45000 Block of Panorama Dr. regarding two unresponsive adults. The adults were located by a 13-year-old female when she noticed her mother’s belongings were still in the house when her mother should have been at work, causing the juvenile to search for her mother. CPR was conducted by the original reporting party (a neighbor), deputies, and Cal-Fire. The male was transported to Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage; however, the female was pronounced deceased at the scene. Paraphernalia consistent with narcotic use was in plain view on the kitchen countertop. Based on the paraphernalia and the condition of the unresponsive adult, it appeared the incident could be related to fentanyl. Palm Desert Station investigators responded to continue the investigation. 8:05 PM – Misdemeanor Domestic Battery Arrest: Deputies responded to the 600 block of Pinnacle Crest, and arrested a 53-year-old male of Edina, Minnesota for pushing his wife down after an argument. He was booked at the county jail in Indio. Palm Desert Station Significant Incident Report for Sunday, January 8, 2023 8:42 PM – Warrant Arrest: Deputies conducted a pedestrian check at a convince store in the 78000 block of Country Club Dr. in the City of Palm Desert. Deputies subsequently arrested a parolee, a 33-year-old male of Palm Desert, for two outstanding drug-related misdemeanor warrants. He was booked at the county jail in Indio. Palm Desert Station Significant Incident Report for Monday, January 9, 2023 1:07 PM – Narcotics Arrest: Deputies of the Palm Desert Business District Team conducted an occupied vehicle check near the intersection of Las Flores Lane and San Gorgonio Way and contacted a 27-year-old male of La Quinta. The subject consented to a search and was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, fentanyl, a Xanax bar, and drug paraphernalia. He was booked at the county jail in Indio. 2:05 PM – Drug Paraphernalia Arrest: Deputies of the Business District Team conducted a pedestrian check and contacted a 49-year-old male transient, from Palm Desert, near the intersection of San Gorgonio Way and San Pablo Ave., in the City of Palm Desert. The subject was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and booked at the county jail in Indio. Palm Desert Station Significant Incident Report for Tuesday, January 10, 2023 12:13 AM – Fraud Arrest: Deputies of the Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team conducted a pedestrian check at Desert Crossing and Highway 111, in the City of Palm Desert. A 44-year-old female of Palm Desert was contacted. An inquiry revealed she was wanted for a credit card fraud that occurred in November of 2022 and at Try a Bike in the City of Palm Desert for over $5,000. Date 01/12/23 01/13/23 01/14/23 01/15/23 01/16/23 01/17/23 01/18/23 # of calls 161 156 91 99 117 134 194 Palm Desert Station Significant Incident Report for Thursday, January 12, 2023 1:05 AM – Possession of Stolen Property / Felony Evading / Resisting Arrest: Deputies responded to a convenience store in the 73000 block of Highway 111 regarding a stolen vehicle which had just occurred. The suspect, who was identified as a 20-year-old female of Palm Desert, took the vehicle and left the scene. Responding deputies located it near Hovley Lane East and Largo. The vehicle did not stop, and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit lasted approximately 30 minutes and went into Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Thermal Station jurisdiction, at one point. The pursuit terminated at Fred Waring and Tennessee Ave when the vehicle became inoperable. The suspect refused to exit the vehicle when given multiple orders to do so. A pepper ball was eventually deployed into the cab of the vehicle and the suspect still refused to exit. Additional deputies responded and assisted in deploying other less lethal measures. These measures were also ineffective in gaining compliance. Eventually the suspect was extracted from the vehicle and additional force was used. A McNeely Warrant was authored to obtain a sample of the suspect’s blood. The suspect was booked at the county jail in Indio for vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest, and felony evading. 8:30 AM – Warrant Arrest / Narcotics Arrest: Deputies of the Business District Team conducted a traffic stop on Washington St. and Country Club Dr., in the City of Palm Desert. An inquiry revealed both occupants of the vehicle had warrants. The first subject, a 33-year-old male of Desert Hot Springs, had a felony warrant for multiple violations of driving under the influence. He was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and booked at the county jail in Indio. The passenger, a 53-year-old male of Cathedral City, had a misdemeanor warrant for shoplifting. He was released from the scene after he signed a promise to appear for his warrant. Palm Desert Station Significant Incident Report for Friday, January 13, 2023 2:34 AM – Fatal Traffic Collision: Deputies responded to a report of a major traffic collision at Country Club Dr and Cook St. Upon arrival, a single vehicle was located with major damage and a deceased adult female inside. The other driver and vehicle were located about 100 yards east of the victim. Deputies from the Palm Desert Traffic Team arrested a 26-year-old male of Coachella, for driving under the influence and authored a McNeely Warrant to obtain a sample of the suspect’s blood. Additional members of the Palm Desert Traffic Team, Forensics, and the Coroner’s Bureau responded to assume the collision investigation. The District Attorney’s office also responded to the scene for investigation. The suspect was booked at the county jail in Indio for homicide (Watson Murder) after he received a medical clearance. 1:35 PM – Warrant Arrest: Deputies responded to a public disturbance in the 73400 block of El Paseo. They contacted and arrested a 29-year-old male transient for an outstanding attempt robbery warrant. He was booked at the county jail in Indio. 11:10 PM – Domestic Violence Arrest: Deputies responded to the 45900 block of Ocotillo Ave. and arrested a 63-year-old female of Palm Desert. Investigation revealed she struck her husband in the face after an argument. She was arrested and booked at the county jail in Indio. 11:45 PM – Domestic Violence: Deputies responded to 76000 Frank Sinatra Dr. reference a domestic violence. Investigation revealed a 32-year-old male of Lebanon Oregon, threw his wife against a wall and headbutted her. The CAL-FIRE Riverside Unit Emergency Command Center was able to pinpoint a location of the reporting parties cellular telephone and relay the location to the emergency responders. With specialized equipment from the Palm Desert Fire Station (Truck Company 33 Staffing and the side-by-side off-road vehicle) a rescue was initiated and patient contact was made approximately 1 mile up the trail. The patient was 70+ years old with a traumatic leg injury. Utilizing the aforementioned equipment, a rapid extraction of the patient was initiated and the patient was removed from the hiking trail and was transported to a local hospital. 22CARRU017281 On , CAL FIRE / Riverside County Fire Department units arrived on scene of a 2 vehicle traffic accident at the intersection of Quicksilver Street and Portola Avenue in the city of Palm Desert. One patient was trapped within their vehicle and the jaws of life had to be used to extricate the patient from the vehicle. The trapped patient had moderate injuries and was transported to a local trauma center . The second patient had minor injuries, was treated by on scene Paramedics and declined transport to the hospital. There were no firefighter injuries on scene of this incident. 22CARRU019954 On , CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters were dispatched to reported burn injuries, reported with a person on fire. Upon arrival at scene, firefighters found a 16-year old male suffering moderate burn injuries from a vaping type of device that ignited during use. The patient was treated and transported code 3 to Desert Hospital in a Fire Department Ambulance. 22CARRU021909 On , CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department resources were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire at 43155 Portola Avenue inside the Portola Palms Mobile Home Park in the City of Palm Desert. The first unit on scene reported heavy smoke showing from Space 44. Due to the high winds the fire spread to multiple other spaces and vegetation. A fourth alarm was requested for extinguishment of multiple fires. EMD and Red Cross have been notified to assist with displacements. RSO assisted with road closures and evacuations. The fire is currently under investigation. Two fire personnel were injured and transported for evaluation and one civilian was treated for smoke inhalation. Resources are still on scene with an approximate commitment time of three hours. The following fire departments assisted with station coverage behind the incident; San Bernardino Co., Corona, Murrieta, Riverside City, and Hemet. 22CARRU028423 On , CALFIRE / Riverside County Firefighters responded to a reported structure fire at the address listed . The first arriving Company Officer reported heavy fire from the roof of a double wide mobile home with exposures to neighboring units. Interior fire crews reported a fire well established in the attic space. A coordinated fire attack contained the flames to the original unit involved with no damage resulting to neighboring structures, however the original structure suffered heavy damage. The were no reported injuries to civilians or fire fighters. 22CARRU028713 On , CAL FIRE / Riverside County Fire Department responded to a report of a traffic collision cut and rescue with victims trapped. The first arriving Battalion Chief reported a two vehicle accident with entrapment of one adult female. Extrication was quickly performed and the adult female was removed from the vehicle and taken to a local area hospital with minor injuries; moreover, an adult male was also transported to a local area hospital with minor injuries. Upon arrival they observed light smoke coming from the building. The source of the smoke was isolated to the wall around an HVAC unit. The fire was contained to that wall. A coordinated effort of by firefighters contained the fire to two bedrooms and exterior patio covers, however extensive overhaul needed due to the fire loading inside of the residence. Red Cross was requested for one resident who is displaced with 5 dogs. City of Palm Desert Building and Safety will need to respond due to the structure being uninhabitable. There was smoke and water damage in the commercial services area and firefighters performed water removal operations to minimize the water damage. One occupant was rapidly removed from a vehicle and transported to a local trauma center with major injuries. There was a child that had minor injuries in the same vehicle and was also transported to the trauma center for evaluation. The driver of the second vehicle fled the scene prior to Fire and Law Enforcement arrival at scene. 22CARRU065476 On , CAL FIRE / Riverside County Fire Department responded to a report of a two car traffic collision at the intersection of Hovley Lane and Washington Street in the city of Palm Desert. The fire arriving fire engine reported a two vehicle traffic accident with major damage; additionally, one vehicle was on its roof in the intersection. It was determined that there were two occupants of a sedan that were trapped and needed to be extricated. The Jaws of Life were utilized and the two patients were quickly extricated. There were a total 3 patients- 2 with major injuries and 1 minor injuries. All patients were transported to a local area hospital. Moreover, there was damage to the traffic signal box thus disabling the traffic signals at the intersection. The city of Palm Desert was notified to respond to assist with the damaged traffic signal box. There were no firefighters injured at this incident. 22CARRU083541 On , Units from CALFIRE / Riverside County Fire, and the City of Palm Desert responded to a drowning in the City of Palm Desert. Bystanders had removed the 58 year old patient from the pool and were preforming CPR prior to the arrival of firefighters and paramedics. Advanced Life Support (ALS) interventions were enacted by fire crews immediately, but unfortunately resuscitation efforts were not successful. The Riverside County Sherriff office assumed responsibility of the scene. 22CARRU087434 On , Units from CAL FIRE / Riverside County Fire responded to a commercial structure fire located at the maintenance building of Desert Falls Country Club in the City of Palm Desert. The first arriving officer reported light smoke next to an outdoor shed and office type trailer. During fire suppression activities, it was noticed that the fire involved pool chemicals including chlorine and acid that were stored outside of the shed. The initial crews withdrew, and gross decontamination was conducted on those exposed. The initial crews started to experienced difficulty breathing, and all 5 were transported to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation. Secondary crews took a defensive position, containing the fire to the initial shed and an exposed office trailer while being mindful of the waste water run off. Riverside County Environmental Health responded to the incident and assisted with air monitoring, and the site was turned over to the property representative and private hazmat cleanup company to mitigate the pool chemicals. There were no reported injuries to any civilians. 22CARRU093921 On , Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department resources were dispatched to a reported tamarisk tree row fire along the railroad tracks West of Washington St. Upon the arrival at scene of the first Fire Department resource, there was approximately 100 ft. of tamarisk trees on fire and one civilian injury. Rapid suppression actions halted the fires spread and Riverside County Fire Department Paramedics treated the civilian for minor injuries. The patient refused transportation to the hospital. Due to heavy fuel loading there is extensive mop-up and overhaul of the fire and resources will remain committed for several hours. There was no firefighter injuries and the cause of the fire was undetermined. 22CARRU095233 On , CAL Fire/ Riverside County Firefighters responded to a reported commercial structure fire at the above address . First unit at scene reported a two story commercial building with nothing showing and evacuations in progress. Upon entering the structure crews found that the fire was extinguished by the sprinkler system and as a result there was moderate water damage throughout the building. One occupant was evaluated at scene and released . 22CARRU095821 On , CAL FIRE / Riverside County Firefighters responded to a reported Hiker in distress on the Bump and Grind Trail in Palm Desert. Firefighters were able to hike up and make contact with the patient who was overheated and suffering from dehydration. CHP Helicopter H60 utilized their rescue hoist to extract the patient off the hill and transfer care over to an awaiting Fire Department Ambulance. Once evaluated the patient declined any further treatment or transport to the hospital. There were no reported injuries to any firefighters on this incident. 22CARRU104475 Page 4 of 61/18/2023 5:05:04PM On , Cal Fire/Riverside County Firefighters were dispatched to a reported hiker in distress on the Homestead Trail in the area of the cross. The first Fire Engine Company Officer arrived at the trailhead and utilized the information that was obtained from the Emergency Command Center and made cellular contact with the patient. Incident command was established and firefighters navigated the trail utilizing the Fire Departments side-by-side vehicle. When patient contact was made it was determined that aerial extrication would be the best method to extract the patient and Riverside County Sheriffs Department Rescue 9 helicopter was summoned to the incident. Rescue 9 extracted the patient with a hoist operation and delivered the patient to the landing zone where a Fire Department ambulance transported the patient to a local hospital. The patient had moderate injuries. 22CARRU106197 On , Cal Fire/Riverside County Firefighters were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire in the Silver Spur Trailer Park. Upon the arrival of the first fire engine, there was a smell of smoke emitting from the residence and smoke alarms activating. Firefighters forced entry into the unoccupied residence and located a fire in the laundry room area. The fire was contained to the laundry room and firefighters performed overhaul and salvage to ensure the fire was extinguished and that it did not spread beneath the residence. 22CARRU115206 On , Units from CALFIRE / Riverside County Fire, and the City of Palm Desert responded to reports of smoke on the first and second floor of a commercial three story hotel. The first arriving Company Officer reported visible smoke from the first floor of the rear of the structure with evacuations in progress. The fire was discovered in a commercial laundry dryer, and contained to the drum. as a precaution, approximately 100 guest were evacuation while crews checked for fire extension. Firefighters remained on scene to ventilate the rooms and help restore the alarm system. Guest were allowed to return to their rooms about an hour after the incident began. City official will need to follow up in the morning for a building and fire inspection and fire. There were no reports of injuries to civilians or firefighters on conclusion of the incident. 22CARRU150707 On , CAL Fire/Riverside County Firefighters responded to a reported outside fire in the City of Palm Desert. Upon arrival the first arriving engine company reported multiple vehicles and palm tress on fire threatening a residential quadplex. Fire personnel were able to contain the fire to the outside of the structure and limit the spread to only the initial vehicles and palm trees. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. 22CARRU159724 On , CAL FIRE / Riverside County firefighters responded to a residential structure fire in the 10 block of San Felipe Drive in the city of Palm Desert. The first engine company reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage of single story, single family residence. An aggressive and coordinated fire attack was made and the fire was contained within 30 minutes after arrival of the first in engine company. One family of two will be displaced from the residence but declined assistance from Red Cross. Palm Desert Building and Safety Department has been notified to red tag the residence. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries on this incident. 22CARRU161605 On , CALFIRE/Riverside County Firefighters were dispatched to a commercial structure fire in the 73000 block of El Paseo Drive in the City of Palm Desert. The first due Company Officer reported a 2 story commercial structure with smoke and fire coming from both floors. 3 total alarms were ordered and Firefighters are working to extinguish the fire. Firefighters will be on scene for several hours. There were no reports of civilian or firefighter injuries. 22CARRU166959 On , CAL FIRE / Riverside County Fire Department responded to a commercial vehicle fire at the Burrtec vehicle storage facility in the city of Palm Desert. The first arriving fire resource reported 2 full size trash trucks well involved with fire with multiple exposures. Fire department resources extended hose lines and surrounded the fire quickly halting the spread of fire to additional vehicles and infrastructure. Fire department resources will remain on scene for 1 hour checking for hotspots. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries on this fire. 22CARRU169303 On , Units from CALFIRE / Riverside County Fire, and the City of Palm Desert responded to a reported vehicle into a structure at 72525 Desert Flower Drive in the City of Palm Desert. The first arriving Company Officer reported on vehicle off the roadway, upside down and into a residential structure with an actively leaking natural gas line. The driver was extricated, treated, and transported to a local trauma center for further evaluation. The homeowners were not present at the time of the incident. City of Palm Desert Building officials were requested to inspect the structure for stability . 22CARRU172063 On , CAL FIRE / Riverside County Fire Department responded to an inaccessible rescue at the Cap Homme / Ralph Adams Park (Homestead Trailhead) in the city of Palm Desert. The first arriving fire resource was notified by bystanders that there was an adult male 1/4 mile up the trail suffering a medical emergency. Fire crews made patient contact and UTV 33 was used to bring the patient down the hill to an awaiting ambulance. CHP helicopter H60 arrived on scene of the incident but was not utilized. The patient was assessed, treated and transported to a local area hospital in moderate condition. There were no firefighters injured on this incident. 22CARRU181180 On , CAL FIRE / Riverside County Fire Department responded to a traffic collision cut and rescue at the entrance gate to the Ironwood Country Club. The first fire resource arrived on scene to find one vehicle on its side with two victims trapped. Vehicle stabilization and airbags were utilized to extricate the victims from the vehicle. Both victims were transported to a local area trauma center in minor condition. The main entrance to Ironwood Country Club will be closed for an unknown amount of time. The scene has been turned over to RSO. The first fire resource arrived on scene to find one vehicle on its side with two victims trapped. Vehicle stabilization and airbags were utilized to extricate the victims from the vehicle. Both victims were transported to a local area trauma center in minor condition. The main entrance to Ironwood Country Club will be closed for an unknown amount of time. The scene has been turned over to RSO. No firefighters were injured on this incident. 22CARRU185295 On , CAL FIRE / Riverside County Fire Department responded to a traffic collision cut and rescue at the intersection of Fred Waring Drive and Adonis Drive in the city of Palm Desert. The first arriving fire resource reported a two-vehicle traffic collision with major damage and three people trapped. Upon further assessment of the patients, it was determined that all three patients from one vehicle had succumbed to their injuries. The driver of the second vehicle was transported to a local area trauma center in major condition. Fred Waring Drive between Monterey and Town Center Way will be closed for the next 3 hours for investigation. The first arriving Company Officer reported visible smoke from the first floor of the rear of the structure with evacuations in progress. The fire was discovered in a commercial laundry dryer, and contained to the drum. as a precaution, approximately 100 guest were evacuation while crews checked for fire extension. Firefighters remained on scene to ventilate the rooms and help restore the alarm system. Guest were allowed to return to their rooms about an hour after the incident began. City official will need to follow up in the morning for a building and fire inspection and fire. There were no reports of injuries to civilians or firefighters on conclusion of the incident. 22CARRU150707 On , CAL Fire/Riverside County Firefighters responded to a reported outside fire in the City of Palm Desert. Upon arrival the first arriving engine company reported multiple vehicles and palm tress on fire threatening a residential quadplex. Fire personnel were able to contain the fire to the outside of the structure and limit the spread to only the initial vehicles and palm trees. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. 22CARRU159724 On , CAL FIRE / Riverside County firefighters responded to a residential structure fire in the 10 block of San Felipe Drive in the city of Palm Desert. The first engine company reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage of single story, single family residence. An aggressive and coordinated fire attack was made and the fire was contained within 30 minutes after arrival of the first in engine company. One family of two will be displaced from the residence but declined assistance from Red Cross. Palm Desert Building and Safety Department has been notified to red tag the residence. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries on this incident. 22CARRU161605 On , CALFIRE/Riverside County Firefighters were dispatched to a commercial structure fire in the 73000 block of El Paseo Drive in the City of Palm Desert. The first due Company Officer reported a 2 story commercial structure with smoke and fire coming from both floors. 3 total alarms were ordered and Firefighters are working to extinguish the fire. Firefighters will be on scene for several hours. There were no reports of civilian or firefighter injuries. 22CARRU166959 On , CAL FIRE / Riverside County Fire Department responded to a commercial vehicle fire at the Burrtec vehicle storage facility in the city of Palm Desert. The first arriving fire resource reported 2 full size trash trucks well involved with fire with multiple exposures. Fire department resources extended hose lines and surrounded the fire quickly halting the spread of fire to additional vehicles and infrastructure. Fire department resources will remain on scene for 1 hour checking for hotspots. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries on this fire. 22CARRU169303 On , Units from CALFIRE / Riverside County Fire, and the City of Palm Desert responded to a reported vehicle into a structure at 72525 Desert Flower Drive in the City of Palm Desert. The first arriving Company Officer reported on vehicle off the roadway, upside down and into a residential structure with an actively leaking natural gas line. The driver was extricated, treated, and transported to a local trauma center for further evaluation. The homeowners were not present at the time of the incident. City of Palm Desert Building officials were requested to inspect the structure for stability . 22CARRU172063 On , CAL FIRE / Riverside County Fire Department responded to an inaccessible rescue at the Cap Homme / Ralph Adams Park (Homestead Trailhead) in the city of Palm Desert. The first arriving fire resource was notified by bystanders that there was an adult male 1/4 mile up the trail suffering a medical emergency. These items pertain to roles and functions during the meeting as well as items for the Commission to discuss in establishing their 2023 work plan.
