Answered: 163 Skipped: 285 Page 54 Why did you choose PDAC for Group or Private Swim Lessons? Open-Ended Response Quality Instruction Clos Clos Referred You need at least 2-3 long distance lanes open at all times. Depending on how busy it is. There was no where else to put this suggestion. Did not Because I had a good experience 2 years ago with my son. It is close to where I live in Palm Desert. Good teachers, they taught my grand daughter to swim. Because it’s a nice clean pool and the waters always cold when you need it and hot when you need it too Time of day and instructors. my son started going during one summer and my daughter wanted to do it too when she got a little older so we did. Because they offer it. facility It's close to the office and the times of the classes fit perfect before we head up the mountains where we live. Excellent instruction and program. Friendly, knowledgeable teachers. Close by. Nice facility. Availability Price and timing It's affordable and close. The teachers are very good, the group sizes aren't too big so teachers can safely supervise (except one level, I believe it was school age Level 1 should have a lower cap), the facility is excellent, and there is more availability (time slots) than other pools. Swimming lessons I taught them Location, convenient time, I knew peers (fellow parents ) Page 55 Have not done so beautiful pool Great program for little ones. N/A This comment is in general, not for #23 I live in La Quinta. After thus session, half way over, our Fritz Burns pool will no longer be offering night water exercise. Will PDAC be bringing your night classes back? I prefer to do 5pm? Or 6pm is OK? Spouse learning to swim Aerobics classes Your staff is very patient when working with children in teaching them how to swim. Proximity and # of lanes for lap swim Kids summer activities It is only of the only options in the valley Family Great pool for swimming laps in the day. The pool is great and the showers are okay. Good instructor It's a beautiful welcoming facility. Limited options and it was affordable Good Schedule Great instructors Location Not many other options Good neighborhood, reasonable prices It was recommended by friends Affordable It was the only one I could find for my toddler. Convenience to housing Close by.. love the aqua fit classes… great facility Its the closest pool to offer swim lessons Page 56 NA I used to work as a lifeguard at a YMCA and think the swim lesson programs are really good. They have a very good coaches and variety of time For exercise The quality and the care of the staff has always been great and the facility is kept up well Excellent staff Accessibility No other place to choose or type this, but I would swim much more if the pool was open in the evenings for adult lap swim, and would make it worth buying the pass. It’s a nice area Quality instruction It’s close and convenient. Great facility and had lessons for all my kid's levels at the same time Big pool and good instructor The only (public) place with Water Arthritis Class I like the area however, it is pretty expensive for the amount of time and days Schedule worked around kids schooling. Goid coach Close to home and my kids needed to learn how to swim. It was a great value for my kids to learn to swim and a great facility. The closes pool to us does not offer swim lessons, my child is disable and want him to be a better swimmer since he loves water sports (Kayak & Paddle Board) I figured my son would learn better in a group. And also multiple available times. Proximity, price, availability of appropriate classes. Because the pool is so beautiful, and the grounds as well. My only complaint is the changing facilities. For physical exercise Because you are the only providers in the nearby area Page 57 have not taken lessons My endurance club had private lessons. Did not. But it’s fabulous. I did not but strongly support having lessons available. I liked the morning classes with my baby to introduce her to the water. My niece does swim classes there and I liked how clean the facilities were. Affordable, great pool, great instructors, outdoors It was all that was available at the time Professional and clean Excellence of the facility…meaning the pool. Convenience. I was already there six days a week. Instructors are amazing and they thought both my daughters how to swim Safety. Reputation. I wanted my youngest child to lean to swim. He did the private swim lessons and it helped tremendously. Only lessons available for infants Affiliated with the YMCA quality center, resident pricing, and close proximity to our home Daughter did for her 3 girls. We live in PA but attend exercise class when visiting For my kids to socialize Senior Swim Class Swim lessons are the best in the valley. Outside of private in home lessons, this is the very best option to see growth in a swimmer. I live in Palm desert The only game in town once Palm Springs Pool started shutting down Available time and cost Again, I have tried twice to get a response from the center re. swimming lessons but received no reply. For the lap swimming ability. Easy location to attend swim lessons and a reasonable price need my grandbabies to learn how to swim Not offered in Cathedral City or Pa Page 58 it's the only option for people without a pool or other gym membership I helped an instructor teach kids to swim I have joined masters swim in the past as well as I took private lessons with the coach. Wasn’t able to get signed up. Exercise and health It offered me lessons that worked with our school and work schedule. Close & convenient to the YMCA Love the pool . Lots of lanes . Just a bummer when the ladies bathroom is closed and people take FOREVER in the unisex bathrooms. Put a time limit on them closest to home The coach was excellent Excellent facility and close to home. I'm surprised you didn't ask about the cleanliness of the pool. It is consistently dirty and if it was a hotel pool, it would probably be shut down. Cloudy water, dirty bottom almost all the time. Lifeguards and office staff are great, pool maintenance way below where it should be. This is the only place on the survey to write this so here it is. Locker rooms are clean, it's the pool that gets you marked down on cleanliness. Instructor positivity and environment. Page 71 Park Review – Magnesia Falls By Jerry Dawson October 2023 Note to City Staff and to ALL Park and Recreation Committee members: PLEASE READ This park has the best and the worst aspects of any Palm Desert Park. Best: 1. The large/beautiful ADA approved structure is still fantastic for kids! 2. The number of trash receptacles is ample and are conveniently placed. Worst: 1. Both wooden benches are in sad shape and are dangerous for the public to use! They have lost most of their ‘finish’ and the wood slates are very chipped and breaking. WARNING: Do not sit on them without proper armor protection. 2. The concrete walkway is semi-OK but has a 4 X 2-foot disintegration next to a fence poll that could trip a walker. 3. The base that used to contain an image and a plaque is still there! It should have been removed years ago when its usefulness ended. 4. The drinking fountain is inoperative. The upper one gives no water and the lower one tries, but only a dribble comes out. 5. The men’s restroom is disgusting and STINKS!! I entered a few minutes after the cleaning crew-man had completed his cleaning process. I SINCERELY HOPE THAT REMEDIAL MEASURES WILL OCCUR SOON. (I will re-visit in two months to see what progress has taken place.) coming in. While I was there, they were working on the Pickle ball courts, so they are closed. Page 1 The ball fields are sll a mess but dried out. I would think now would be the best me to remove the dirt before the predicted El Nino rains come. What a mess. Page 2 The dog parks looked good with the new grass and some happy dogs playing. The small dog park needs a new water fountain, as the one there is pasted it ’s useful life. The restrooms and picnic area were clean and well kept. Overall good clean park with kids playing around, people reading books in the shade, and dogs having a great me. Page 3
