CALL TO ORDER Chairperson Boren convened the meeting at 1:08 p.m. II. ROLL CALL Present Absent Maureen Boren, Chair Louisa Higgins Liz Hauer, Vice Chair Carol Adney Lori Flint Louise Harding Also Present Amy Lawrence, Special Programs Manager Debbie Thompson, Recording Secretary Debra Alleyne, Management Analyst Karina Quintanilla, Councilmember III. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS None IV. CONTINUED BUSINESS A. SELECT EIGHTEEN (18) SCULPTURES AND UP TO SIX (6) ALTERNATE SCULPTURES FOR THE 2023/2024 EL PASEO SCULPTURE EXHIBITION (Continued from the regular meeting of March 9, 2022) Cultural Arts Committee Minutes March 16, 2022 2 Ms. Lawrence and Ms. Alleyne presented the balance of the proposals that were selected by the Committee Members via Airtable. It was the concurrence of the Committee that the following artists/sculptures be approved to be included in the 2023/2024 El Paseo Sculpture Exhibition: Regular Pads (16) Mitch Levin – Timepiece; Nicholas Meyer – Eye of the Wind; Pati Stajcar – RedRover; T. Barny – Circo X; John Banks – Treble Clef Pirouette; Karen and Tony Barone – Swirly Girl; Joe Sackett – Dude Ascending; Mir Agol – Conduit; Christopher Thomson – Blooming Gratitude #2; Gleb Dusavitskiy – From the Other Side; Kelly Goff – Continuous Line V (levity); Delos Van Earl – The Seeker; John Meyer – Portal Ripple 1; Hector Ortega – Hygge; Lynn Jaye – Dione, the Water Goddess; and Gonzalo Torres - Pixelman Alternates for regular pad Robert Henderson – FU4 Chrome Corsair – ALTERNATE; Charla Elizabeth – Quirky – ALTERNATE; Christopher Georgesco – Poly Rhythms – ALTERNATE; and Rob Lorenson – Rhythmic Taper - ALTERNATE Pad #1 Gil Reynolds – Jewel; Michele Moushey Dale – Natural Wonders I – ALTERNATE Pad #16 Nicole Beck – Sunstruck; Ray Katz – Hurricane - ALTERNATE Member Hauer moved to approve the selection of eighteen (18) sculptures and up to six (6) alternate sculptures (as stated above) for the 2023/2024 El Paseo Sculpture Exhibition and authorize staff to present the recommended sculptures to the City Council for final approval. Motion was seconded by Member Adney and carried 5-0-1 with Adney, Boren, Flint, Harding and Hauer voting AYE with Higgins ABSENT. This item will go to the City Council at its April 14, 2022 meeting. Cultural Arts Committee Minutes March 16, 2022 3 Staff will begin contacting the selected artists to confirm timely delivery of sculptures, etc. V.
