SUBJECT: PETTY CASH FOR VISITOR INFORMATION CENTER
The recent decision by the City Council to assume operations of the Visitor Information Center has
created the need for access to petty cash on a regular basis. The Center plans to sell promotional
items,maps, etc. which will create the need for providing change to customers. Additionally, some
cash will be needed for local meetings and small office supply purchases.
Finance Director, Paul Gibson recommended establishing a petty cash fund as the most appropriate
method to utilize at this time. Therefore,petty cash in the amount of$300.00 is being requested to
accommodate the needs of the Visitor Information Center.
RECOMMENDATION:
By minute motion, adopt Resolution No. 98-122 authorizing a $300.00 petty cash fund for the
Visitor Information Center.

RESOLUTION NO. 98-122
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PALM DESERT, ESTABLISHING A PETTY CASH
FUND UNDER THE SUPERVISION AND CONTROL OF
THE VISITOR INFORMATION CENTER
COORDINATOR.
Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Palm Desert as follows:
Section 1: There is hereby created a petty cash fund under the supervision and control of
the Visitor Information Center Coordinator in the amount of three hundred dollars ($300.00) for
the purpose of meeting immediate cash needs of the City of Palm Desert.
Section 2: Said petty cash fund is on a reimbursement basis with all disbursements made
only upon the receipt of a properly executed petty cash voucher reflecting the signature of the
person receiving the funds and the purpose of the expenditure.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Palm Desert
this 8th day of October, 1998, by the following vote.
