Folkers, Assistant City Manager/Public Works Director SUBJECT: ANNUAL ASSESSMENT FOR LANDSCAPING AND LIGHTING DISTRICT NO. 4 (TRACT 8237) DATE: May 26, 1988 RECOMMENDATION: By minute motion, adopt Resolution No. 88-48 for the purpose of levying and collecting assessments for fiscal year 1988-89 for the subject assessment district. BACKGROUND: This existing landscaping and lighting district encompasses Tract 8237, located westerly of Deep Canyon Road and southerly of Magnesia Falls Drive. The following streets are included in this district: Rutledge Way; Santolina Drive; Buttonwood Drive; Myrsine Avenue; Primrose Drive; Balsam Lane; Silktree Lane; Gazania Place; Palmilla Circle; and Wanda Circle. This district has been in existence for approximately seven years, and was originally formed as a 1927 Act assessment district. In May of 1983, a new district was formed under the 1972 Act. The assessments for this district pay for the cost of street lighting only; there are no landscaping costs associated with this district. In order to cover the energy and maintenance costs for street lighting within the district, the City Council must levy assessments for fiscal year 1988-89. The California Streets and Highways Code specifically requires that public hearings for levying annual assessments be held at the first regular City Council meeting in June. Public Works staff recommends adoption of the resolution setting the annual public hearing for this assessment district.4RI H D J.2-'1-FOL S, P.E.
