HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 87-34 LL AD No. 4 Tract 8237 FY 1987-1988 INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM
TO: City Council and City Manager
FROM: Richard J. Folkers, Director of Public Works/City Engineer
SUBJECT: ANNUAL ASSESSMENT FOR LANDSCAPING AND LIGHTING DISTRICT NO. 4 (TRACT
8237)
DATE: May 28, 1987
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Resolution No. 87-34 for the purpose of levying and collecting
assessments for fiscal year 1987-88 for the subject assessment district.
BACKGROUND:
This existing landscaping and lighting district encompasses Tract 8237,
located westerly of Deep Canyon Road and southerly of Magnesia Falls Drive. The
following streets are included in this district: Rutledge Way; Santolina Drive;
Buttonwood Drive; Myrsine Avenue; Primrose Drive; Balsam Lane; Silktree Lane;
Gazania Place; Palmilla Circle; and Wanda Circle.
This district has been in existence for approximately seven years, and was
originally formed as a 1927 Act assessment district. In May of 1983, a new
district was formed under the 1972 Act. The assessments for this district pay
for the cost of street lighting only; there are no landscaping costs associated
with this district. In order to cover the energy and maintenance costs for
street lighting within the district, the City Council must levy assessments for
fiscal year 1987-88. The California Streets and Highways Code specifically
requires that public hearings for levying annual assessments be held at the first
regular Council meeting in June.
Public Works staff recommends adoption of the resolution setting the annual
public hearing for this assessment district.
