NEW EQUIPMENT TO BE PURCHASED Item QTY Price/Item Extended Total 1)Marquee sign for the new Northeast Police Sun-Station(See Attached Detailed Price Quote) Vendor: Sign A Rama Grand Total $ 2,848.91 Marquee Sign for the new Northeast Police Sun-Station Vendor: Sign A Rama The new sub-station is expected to provide limited police and public safety information resources for the residents of the northern portion of the city. The intent of the Police Department is to provide the best possible service to the citizens of our city and in doing so we also want to provide a professional image. We desire is to represent the City of Palm Desert in the best possible image and intend to present the sub-station as a showcase location. We reviewed each ofthe four attached bids for furniture and reviewed what each of the companies had to offer. Upon our review,Sign A Rama presented quality consistent with the other bidders at the lowest price. We would therefore recommend approval of the quote of$2,848.91 presented by Sign A Rama. Note: The original proposal was taken to the Palm Desert Public Safety Commission on May 2, 2002;however,the bid from Sing A Rama was inadvertently left out. The Sign A Rama bid was the first bid received(3/27/02),however,it did not initially contain a digital image of the requested sign. The Sign A Rama bid is$800.00 less than all of the other bids and the fact that we did not specify as to the requirement to have a digital image of the sign, as part of the package should not preclude them from the process. Therefore we felt that it would be proper to allow them to present their digital image and to include their bid for consideration. We subsequently would recommend the approval of the Sign A Rama bid due to the fact that it is the lowest bid and the quality of the work requested appears to be consistent among all of the companies reviewed. COST ANALYSIS The City of Palm Desert has received$100,000.00 in the Cal Cops (Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund)for FY 2001-2002. These funds were obtained by the city as a one-time grant to be expended exclusively on front line law enforcement services by providing personnel support, equipment,and programs. The Palm Desert Police Department is requesting to purchase the above Marquee Sign at a total cost of $2,848.91 out of Cal Cops Funds.
