OFFICE OF THE MAYOR
October 28, 2005
The Honorable Roy Wilson
Riverside County Supervisor-4th District
46-209 Oasis Street, Room 318
Indio, California 92201
Dear Roy:
I had the opportunity at last night's Council meeting to visit with my colleagues
regarding your suggestion of using the "best of the best" in terms of zoning
standards between County and City standards in sphere of influence areas using
Cahuilla Hills as an example and there was unanimous agreement. Whether that
particular standard is a county or city standard, having things done in what you
would consider to be the most appropriate zoning regulations would be something
that the City would be supportive of.
•
Again, thank you for your flexibility and thoughtfulness on this issue and let us
know what we may do to help.

* With City Council concurrence, agreed that the City of Palm Desert is interested in working
with the County in applying the higher of the two applicable standards whenever a development
project is located within the City's sphere of influence, and that the Mayor should so convey
this message to Supervisor Wilson's office, as well as directing city staff to continue
to work with County Planning staff to this end.
