CITY OF PALM DESERT
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR, MEMBERS OF CITY COUNCIL AND CITY
MANAGER
FROM: RAY L. JANES, ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
SUBJECT: CABLE COMPLAINTS RECEIVED FROM MAY 3, 1995, THROUGH MAY
31, 1995
DATE: JUNE 8, 1995
There were (3) three cable inquiries received from Palm Desert residents for the
period of May 3, 1995, through May 31, 1995.
This is for your review and information.
1. May 3, 1995
4:15 p.m.
Mike Krauss
Mountain View Villas(54 units)
45-400 Driftwood
Palm Desert, CA 92260
341-4910
Mr. Krauss had questions about Colony's installation and service agreements.
I explained to Mr. Krauss that City Council and Bill Marticorena, our cable
attorney, has advised staff not to act as a mediator in contract disputes
between Colony and gated private communities; this is what he had requested.
2. May 11, 1995
2:10 p.m.
Henry Redhorse
P.O. Box 4653
Palm Desert, CA 92260
346-2093
Wanted to know if Colony would be considered a small cable company under the
FCC guidelines. I checked with our consultant Telecommunications
Management Corporation about this issue, and they informed me that a small
system under FCC guidelines is one which has less than 15,000 subscribers;
therefore, this does not apply to Colony.

Ben Pickell

Palm Desert, CA 92260

Mr. Pickell wanted to know if the City has considered televising the Council
meetings.
I informed Mr. Pickell that staff was directed recently by the Council to
conduct a citizen survey regarding this issue, and that there was very little
interest.
Respectfully submitt ,
