B. DISCUSSION: The ARC reviewed a request by First Bank of Palm Desert for a wall sign which was above 20 feet in height. Catmission advised the applicant that due to ordinance limits it could not approve signs above 20 feet in height. The applicant explained that without the additional sign height some existing trees would have to be topped and the additional planting that was planned would have to be shelved. Camussion felt that the proposal had merit and requested staff to explore the feasibility of amending the ordinance to allow the ARC under special circumstances to approve wall signs above 20 feet in height. Staff have advised the bank and ARC that this matter would be back before the city council on May 24, 1990. Prepared by: - Reviewed and Approved by:: cP SRS/tm -4-2)
