Dear Mayor Snyder: Originai on File wit City At the May 15, 1991 City Council meeting, Resolution No. 5551 was adopted in support of Twin Pines Ranch. Twin Pines Ranch is a residential counseling program for boys between the ages of 15 and 18 years, who have been ordered to complete the seven to nine month program by the Juvenile Courts of Riverside County. This program has been in existence since 1946, and has received national attention for a grant winning proposal on working with gang members. It provides a very unique and important service to the youth in offering them an option to their present way of life by affording them the opportunity to become law abiding, productive citizens through education and schooling in different trades. Due to budget cuts facing Riverside County, Twin Pines Ranch is in jeopardy of being closed. We strongly feel that this would be an injustice, not only to the youth, but to the communities within Riverside County. The Indio City Council is strongly opposed to the closing of Twin Pines Ranch and is requesting that all the cities within the Coachella Valley stand united and adopt a Resolution in support of Twin Pines Ranch and forward a copy to the Riverside County Board of Supervisors.
