SUBJECT: EOC COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM-2 --- _. DATE: OCTOBER 18, 1995 ,4---r1.7 Original on File with City CleLk` s Office Recommendation: By minute motion approve and appropiate from the unobligated general fund $21,366.20 for the purchase of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) radio communication system. Background: In January of this year we completed the construction of the City's Emergency Operations Center (EOC). The EOC design incorporated the future radio communications system. Since all communications during and after an emergency will come into the EOC I have discussed with the Sheriff, Fire, Races (ham radio operators) and the County of Riverside Communications Director the City's communications needs to establish the criteria of our radio communications system design. I have received all comments and design criteria for the system. When the system is in full operation, we will have radio communications with the following agencies and groups: • Our UHF frequencies (Public Works and Building and Safety) • Agencies: Sheriff (800 MHz), Fire (UHF), California Highway Patrol • All Coachella Valley Cities • Neighborhood Emergency Services Teams (NEST) VHF frequency. • Riverside County Emergency Operations Center • Radio communications system backup by Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services (RACES) • All utility companies • Southern Pacific Railroad • Desert Sands Unified School District This co munications system is vital to the operation for the EOC. ✓ i/Z_ Rev' w and Con ur: novel r Public Safety Manager Paul ' on, Finance Director Ray Diaz, Acting City Mai alter
