These costs reflect the following changes: 1) The shade structure in the Demonstration Garden. This structure is now a 20' x 20', prefabricated metal structure (see Exhibit A). If the City desires to upgrade this structure at a future date it can be easily removed and replaced. It will be on a concrete pad. 2) The character and quantity of site furnishings, and the character of the individual garden storage buildings was changed, creating a minor cost decrease. 3) The perimeter block wall was modified from that which was used at City Hall to a more standard type wall construction (like what was used at the Coachella Valley Water District well site to the south of the garden area). This change helped to decrease costs. Please note that the Attached cost sheets include a standard flush, single stall restroom facility with sink. The Landscape Committee felt a standard flush type restroom facility was needed. The additional cost will be less than $20,000. F) Engineer's cost estimate for landscaping all Community Garden areas with a Desert Willow style plant pallet. Exhibit G provides an estimate of the costs associated with the infrastructure, grading, wall, irrigation system and perimeter landscape for all of the Community Gardens and the interior of only the Demonstration Garden. This exhibit defers from Exhibit D by the inclusion of all the perimeter block wall, irrigation system, and perimeter landscape. The garden area located between Guadalupe Avenue and the Coachella Valley Water District well site is half of the Standard Garden and its individual cost would be approximately half of the Standard Garden costs (Exhibit E). The Economy of Scale cost factor found in Exhibits D & E reflects the increase in unit price resulting from the smaller work volumes occurring in the phase form of installation.
