INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM
TO: City Council and City Manager
FROM: Richard J. Folkers, Assistant City Manager/Public Works Director
SUBJECT: ANNUAL ASSESSMENT FOR LANDSCAPING 8 LIGHTING DISTRICT NO. 81-3 (TRACT
NOS. 12181-1 AND 12181-2)
DATE: May 26, 1988
RECOMMENDATION:
By minute motion, adopt Resolution No. 88-47 for the purpose of levying
and collecting assessments for fiscal year 1988-89 for the subject assessment
district.
BACKGROUND:
This existing landscaping and lighting district is formed within Tract Nos.
12181- 1 and 12181-2, commonly known as "The Vineyards", located westerly of
Portola Avenue at Rutledge Way.
On July 23, 1981 , the City Council formed this assessment district and
levied the annual special assessment tax. Each subsequent June, the City Council
has levied a special assessment tax, as specified by the California Street and
Highways Code.
The Streets and Highways code requires that a public hearing be conducted at
the first City Council meeting in June for the purpose of levying the annual
assessments for assessment districts formed under the Landscaping and Lighting
Act of 1972. The assessment pays the costs for street lighting within the
district, and also pays for maintaining a landscaped planter area located
adjacent to Portola Avenue.
Public Works staff recommends adoption of this resolution setting the annual
public hearing for this assessment district.
