BACKGROUND: On September 26, 1996, a management agreement(Contract No. R11920) was approved between the City of Palm Desert(as assigned from the Palm Desert Redevelopment Agency on February 13, 1997)and Kemper Sports Management for operation of the Desert Willow Golf Resort. Per section 3.5.2 of the aforementioned management agreement dated September 21, 1996, fees for use of the golf course require Council approval. 3.5.2 Fees and Charges. Kemper shall recommend, and the Agency shall establish annually (or more frequently) all fees and charges for use of the golf course, golf carts,bag storage, club rental and driving range. All other fees, charges and prices for services at the Golf Resort shall be set by Kemper and shall be comparative and competitive with other first class golf resorts in the Coachella Valley. Staff has reviewed the programs and determined their merit for approval by the City Council. Therefore we submit for your consideration the attached proposal of Summer Programs as established by Kemper Sports Management. SUMMER RATES AT DESERT WILLOW Beginning May 26th through October 1, 1998 the posted rate at Desert Willow will be$50 Monday-Thursday and $60 on the weekends and holidays. The twilight rate of$35 will be in effect after 3:00 pm. Summer rates for Palm Desert Resident Card holders will be $35 every day of the week and$30 for the twilight rate. The maintenance crew will aerify the course June 1, 2, and 3 and again August 3,4, and 5. SUMMER PROGRAMS June through September, 1998 palm Desert's Cactus Club Monday through Thursday Palm Desert Resident card holders can build their own 4 some for only$140,which means all players receive the Palm Desert Resident rate when accompanied by a resident. Three day advance tee times.Does not apply to twilight rates and may not be combined with any other special offers or programs. 4 Somes Only. All for 4 and 4 for 3 Monday through Sunday(excluding holidays) 4 play for the price of 3 ($50 1150/$60=$180 -- $37.50/$45) Posted rate only. Each Desert Couples Tournament will be a different format designed to create a fun and challenging round of golf. Tournaments will tee off at 1:30 and cost$85 per couple. Entry price will include green fees,tee prizes and post tournament party. Sign up deadline is the Friday prior to each outing. Tournament dates will be June 28,July 26, August 23 and Sept. 27. May-12-98 12z20P DESERT WILLOW GOLF 760 346 7444 P.03 Willow Warriors From June through August the first three Sunday afternoons of each month Coachella Valley locals can play Desert Willow's 1:30 shotgun for a $40 green fee with an additional $10 going into the hat for merchandise prizes.Palm Desert Resident Card holders can play for$35 with$10 for prizes.Handicaps will be based on each week's format. Sign up 2 days in advance. (Prizes will be purchased from local area businesses) June: 7, 14, 21 July: 5, 12, 19 August: 2, 9, 16 September: 27 Back to School Tournament Sunday, August 30 parents team up with their children for a fun Back To School golf outing.Twosome teams will be made up of one parent and one child vying for great back to school prizes.(book bags and school supplies for the kids and massages and lunches for the parents.) CV Business vs. Business Tournament September 13 -Businesses from around the desert may enter a 4some of employees to compete against other businesses. Entry fee per foursome is$250 and includes tee prizes and lunch. Each team is asked to donate a prize from their business for a raffle during the awards ceremony. Each player will receive one complimentary raffle ticket for prizes. Business Appreciation Tournament September 20, Golf outing for businesses who help(discount or donate) with prizes for Tuesday afternoon Willow Warrior Tournaments and the Back To School Tournament. JUNIOR'S SUMMER PLAY PROGRAM Beginning June 15th through August 25th Future Champion's Club Members may play every Monday,Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 am to 11:30 am for only$10. Each day players receive a 1 hour clinic and 9 holes of golf(or 2 '/2 hours of play). Special lunch prices are also available. Players must pass an etiquette test to complete eligibility. Non-Member Junior Golfers may also play through September any day,based on availability after 3:00 am. Players must walk or be accompanied by and adult to ride prior to 3:00. Please phone ahead for course availability. COURSE SCHEDULES The new South course will open to the public Friday October 16th with grand opening ceremonies and Palm Desert Resident Tournament held Thursday, October 15th The North course closes Monday October 19th and reopens Friday,November 20t° .
