SUBJECT: INFORMATIONAL REPORT—
SCHEDULE FOR FRED WARING DRIVE FROM HIGHWAY 111 TO
FAIRHAVEN DRIVE (PROJECT NO. 651-99)
Discussion:
The intent is to have the contractor working in the channel in March 2000 to do the pile drive
footings and miscellaneous work so that all of the channel work and preliminary bridge work
can be completed by July 2001 when the summer flood season begins. Street work will
commence on May 1 as the tourist traffic will have diminished appropriately and the contractor
can then begin to shift traffic from the old bridge to the new bridge as required by the striping
plan. The intent is to have the bridge completed and open to traffic in September 2001.
Environmental:
The consultant and environmental subconsultant will be meeting with Caltrans the week of
September 10 to determine the environmental process.
Right-of-Way: (July 2000 thru October 2000)
In the meantime, the consultant is preparing the necessary documentation for the procurement
of right-of-way along the south side of Fred Waring Drive east and west of the Palm Valley
Channel, as well as along the north side of Fred Waring Drive between Town Center Way and
Fairhaven Drive.
The amount of right-of-way required will be minimal and the impact upon the One Quail Place
businesses or properties will also be minimal.
Drainage (July 2000 thru October 2000)
As the City will be constructing a roadway in the retention basin along the south side of Fred
Waring Drive east of Town Center Way, it will be necessary to provide a conduit for storm
waters from this area to the Palm Valley Channel as part of the project.
Bridge:
It will be necessary to widen the bridge on both sides which requires the relocation of various
utilities; i.e., gas, electric, telephone and cable facilities. Coordination is underway with those
agencies to ensure that the various utilities can mobilize their crews or contractors to,proceed
with the necessary relocation in conjunction with the construction schedule.
Staff will be glad to discuss this project with the Coun iI at h conven' e, if sired.
