By minute motion authorize the City of Palm Desert to hold harmless and mdemm-y the
City of Indian Wells from golf cart related claims occurring on Portola Avenue within the
city limits of the City of Indian Wells.
II. BACKGROUND:
The east side of Portola Avenue between Mockingbird Trail south to the Haystack
drainage bridge is in the City of Indian Wells. Portola Avenue within the City of Palm
Desert is the preferential transportation roadway for north/south golf cart travel. Golf
carts traveling south on Portola Avenue stay within the City of Palm Desert; while golf
carts traveling north on Portola Avenue must traverse through the City of Indian Wells.
If approved,the City of Palm Desert will stripe, sign and maintain the golf cart striping
and signage on Portola Avenue located within the City of Indian Wells. The City of
Indian Wells staff is also requesting that the City of Palm Desert hold harmless and
indemnify the City of Indian Wells from golf cart related claims occurring on the east
side of Portola Avenue between Mockingbird Trail south to Haystack drainage bridge.
