Home My WebLink AboutAppointments to PD Youth Committee CITY OF PALM DESERT COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT STAFF REPORT REQUEST: APPPOINTMENT of Palm Desert Youth Committee Members DATE: October 9, 2003 CONTENTS: Subject Applications Recommendation: By Minute Motion, appoint Nicholas Talboys, Bethany Walker, Nicholas Asbury, and Daniel Batalles to the Palm Desert Youth Committee and Tarah Fenelon-Nolan, Elliott Smith, and Aisha Garroni as alternate members of that same body. Executive Summary: Last year the City Council formed the Palm Desert Youth Committee. Due to unfilled positions and attrition four voting positions and three alternate positions currently exist. Background: Last February appointments to the Palm Desert Youth Committee were made. At the time of the original appointments three vacancies existed, and with the resignation of Courtney Lingle, four vacancies currently exist for voting members. In addition, it has been recommended that three alternate positions be established who will be expected to attend each meeting and participate in the discussions. Should a vacancy occur mid-term one of these alternates would step in to continue the business before the Committee. Interviews with a City Council sub-committee consisting of Mayor Pro-Tempore Robert Spiegel and Councilman Dick Kelly were held on September 16, 2003, and the following recommendations were made; that the City Council appoint to terms expiring 12/31/04 Nicholas Talboys, Bethany Walker, Nicholas Asbury, and Daniel Batalles as voting members. The alternates recommended for appointment are Tarah Fenelon-Nolan, Elliott Smith, and Aisha Garroni for terms also expiring 12/31/04.
