Funds are available in the current Capital Improvements Program budget for this work. Background: The Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) owns a well site at the northeast corner of Fred Waring Drive and Portola Avenue. The well itself is not located within the proposed new right-of-way for Fred Waring Drive, but much of the mechanical equipment and piping is. In order to accommodate the street widening that is planned, the following work will have to be completed by CVWD: 1. Relocate the existing chlorine building. 2. Relocate and re-pipe the existing inlet structure. 3. Remove the manifold motor, relocate the manifold, replace and rewire the motor. 4. Remove and reconstruct the block wall on the south, east, and part of west sides of the property. 5. Relocate and re-pipe the existing pressure tank, and construct a new pad for it. The City purchased the parcel adjacent to CVWD's well site on 14 February 2001, and will be abating asbestos and demolishing the home on that site within the coming weeks. A re-configured well site parcel will be deeded to CVWD in exchange for the portion of their existing parcel that is needed for the new right of way. I STAFF REPORT SUBJECT: FRED WARING DRIVE WIDENING SAN PASCUAL AVENUE TO DEEP CANYON ROAD CVWD has provided a cost estimate for the necessary relocation work, and is prepared to begin with the design and construction of Items 1-5 listed above. Authorization of an amount not to exceed $111,622.64 for the work described will allow it to be completed before the utility undergrounding work begins in May 2001.
