SUBJECT: POSTPONEMENT OF FEES FOR NEWMAN CENTER (CUP 85, PRECISE PLAN 85-5)
DATE: October 22, 1987
RECOMMENDATION:
By minute motion, authorize the postponement of payment of development and
permit fees associated with the above-referenced project for a one-year period.
BACKGROUND:
This project was approved by the Planning Commission on October 25, 1985.
Development and permit fees were calculated for the project and the applicant
notified on May 12, 1986. At that time, the fees were as follows:
Grading Permit $ 24.00
Plan Checking $ 274.00
Inspection $ 548.00
Drainage $2,016.00
Signalization $2,364.00
Encroachment $ 6.00
TOTAL $5,232.00
In addition, a performance bond in the amount of $7,567, guaranteeing
installation of public improvements was required.
Based upon the applicant's request, we have reviewed our files for the
subject development. That review has resulted in the following:
( 1 ) Drainage and signalization fees should not be assessed against this project,
since it did not involve new construction but was a remodel of an existing
structure.
(2) A revised "Bonds and Fees" letter is being sent to the Newman Center
reflecting the reduction in fees.
As a result of the revision, the fees have been reduced by $4,068 to a
figure of $1 , 164, and the bond amount reduced by $3,959 to a figure of $3,610.
