GILLIGAN, ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER SUBJECT: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANTS PUBLIC HEARING DATE: NOVEMBER 9, 2000 I. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that City Council receive public input regarding proposed uses of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for FY 2001/02. No other action is required at this time. II. BACKGROUND: The Community Development Block Grant funding cycle will be for the FY 2001/02 year. The City will be receiving approximately $255,000 in CDBG funds. The Riverside County Economic Development Agency will not know the actual approved funding until after the FY 2001/02 program has been approved by the Board of Supervisors. The City has mailed out 44 applications (list attached) to prospective CDBG recipients. This list includes organizations from prior years and this year's requests for applications. All applications will be accepted and reviewed by the Outside Funding Agency. Once applications have been through the review process, staff will submit to the City Council those applications which the Committee is recommending be approved. The deadline for application submittal is Monday, November 13, 2000. Staff will then commence with the review and approval process. Recommendations for approval of FY 2001/02 CDBG applicants will be submitted to the City Council at its December 14, 2000, meeting. • Sheila R.
