HomeMy WebLinkAboutFY 1994-95 Reprogramming Community Development Block Grant CDBG. , -L INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM CITY OF PALM DESERT DATE: MARCH 26, 1998 TO: MAYOR, AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: RAY L. JANES SUBJECT: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM Recommendation: 1. That the City Council approve the reprogramming of$4,871.25 (1994-95/block grant) into our Redevelopment Agency's Home Improvement Program for FY 1998. 2. That the City Council approve a change in this year's Foundation for the Retarded block grant of$75,000 from a Capitol Improvement to a Capitol (Fixed Equipment)Acquisition Project. Background: The $4,871.25 was originally a part of block grant money given to the Joslyn Cove Senior Center for various improvements to their facility;this money was to be used to provide additional lighting. However, the Center had a change in their plans and has now decided to give this block grant money back to the City of Palm Desert; staff's recommendation would be to reprogram these funds into our Redevelopment Agency's new Home Improvement Program. The Foundation for the Retarded has requested that they be permitted to change their scope of work regarding the $75,000 block grant which was awarded to them this year by our Charitable Contribution Committee. Rather than use the funding for an expansion to their existing facility, they would now like to use the money to purchase another embroidery machine; therefore, the block grant classification would change from a Capitol Improvement,to a Capitol(Fixed Equipment)Acquisition Project.
