► The Water Committee has reviewed and evaluated legislation as it pertains to meeting
Southern California water needs and advocated strongly for legislation that benefits
our region.
► And, we make extensive efforts to educate and inform business and government
leaders on the long term water solutions that will achieve immediate and lasting
results for Southern California.
In the months ahead, the Southern California Water Committee's efforts remain critical:
► The CALFED Bay Delta process is the center of continued statewide debate. We
must not lose sight of the importance of advocating for new off stream storage and
for an isolated facility that would best meet Southern California's needs with respect
to water quality and reliability.
► Discussions with our counterparts in northern rural counties has the potential of an
alliance that will provide mutual support and cooperation on water issues, including
surface storage, and an isolated Delta facility.
A reliable water supply is of vital concern to everyone who relies on our state's economic
prosperity. Given this crucial time for Californians, I ask you to consider renewing your
membership in the Southern California Water Committee. The City of Palm Desert has
been an SCWC Member since 1987 and we hope that you will continue to invest in
your water future.
Very truly yours,
