HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 87-51 Southern California Water Policy INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM
TO: City Council and City Manager
FROM: Richard J. Folkers, Director of Public Works/City Engineer
SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA MATER POLICY
DATE: June 25, 1987
RECOMMENDATION:
By minute motion, approve Resolution No. __87-51 supporting the Southern
California Water policy.
BACKGROUND:
On February 12, 1987, the Palm Desert City Council approved the request by
Supervisor Melba Dunlap to join the Southern California Water Committee. The
Southern California Water Committee is a consortium of organizations from
counties, cities, businesses, agriculture and industries that have developed a
water policy for California that promises to form the framework for important
future water decisions. The Director of Public Works is a representative for
this committee and attended an all-day workshop this spring in the City of
Industry to become familiarized with the situation.
Since water is vital to our existence, particularly here in the desert, it
behooves the city to support this committee; therefore, the staff recommends
approval of the attached resolution.
