STAFF REPORT
REQUEST: Old Business, Status of Civic Center Parking Review

Summary:
The two Council representatives, Jim Ferguson and Bob Spiegel met with Carlos
Ortega and Dick Folkers to discuss this matter. An action plan was developed:
1. Provide designated visitor parking at the south end of the new shade
structure (see attached map).
2. The amount of visitor parking required will be reviewed to determine if more is
required in the future.
3. Review various carport/shade structures in the City. Photos of various types
and construction cost estimates are being prepared for consideration.
4. Based upon the discussion with the two council members and the City
Manager, we will not be planning to install solar panels on these shade
structures so they can be designed, bid and constructed very rapidly.
These possibilities will be considered for the parking area located east of the skate park,
as illustrated on the attached map. Staff will be available to answer questions or provide
additional updates to the Council.
