Recommendation:
By Minute Motion, waive fees associated with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Desert Second Annual
Palomino 5K Run/Walk scheduled to be held on Sunday,September 12, 1999,in Palm Desert Civic Center

Background:
Beginning in 1998 Big Brothers Big Sisters of The Desert sponsors an annual Palomino 5K Run/Walk to
raise funds for their programs at the Palm Desert Civic Center Park. This year's activity is scheduled to
be held on September 12, 1999,and event planners recently met with staff to outline and obtain approval
for their proposed activities. Since this event is held for the sole purpose of raising funds, event planners
are requesting that the following required fees be waived: a Maintenance Worker($30.00 an hour for six

City of Palm Desert will be recognized on all event publicity and materials.

Septemb 12, 1999, at a total cost of$270.00.
