Mature trees are well cared for.  Playground equipment was in in good condition and very busy on a Monday morning.  Bathroom was clean after the weekend usage. Sink faucet in restroom was not working but toilet was flushing.  Water faucet at the playground was not functioning.  Users of the playground tell me the city has been very responsive with cleaning of the coyote droppings in the playground. They Also commented on a person doing dog training at the park with dogs off leash that concerned them. There was interest in some kind of a small water feature for kids since the park is used year round. They also said the kids even like to play on the bridge.  Some signs are bleached out and could be replaced, especially on the trails. Might have an opportunity to make a ‘botanical trail’ with QR code and description of the some of the native plants on the trail.  City might consider some signage for the ‘natural trail’ adjoining the greenspace park.  Seems to have become more of a destination park rather than neighborhood park, since 9 vehicles and two work trucks were parked. 47 48 49 50 51 52 Page 1 of 1 PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE CITY OF PALM DESERT STAFF REPORT MEETING DATE: May 7, 2024 PREPARED BY: Kevin Swartz, Project Manager REQUEST: PUBLIC ART UPDATE – STUDENT ART ESSAY WINNERS (WATER STATION WRAPS), AND AQUATIC CENTER ART RECOMMENDATION: Receive and file the report.
