The program was entitled "Operation Desert Clean Sweep". The City of Palm Desert conducted two cleanups on Saturday, October 22 and Saturday, November 5, 1994. We utilized a dedicated volunteer work force comprised of the Coachella Valley Boys and Girls Club (October 22) and the Boy Scouts of America (November 5). The clean sweeps were conducted at two sites: Indian Hill and the Big Horn Institute. On both cleanup dates and at both sites, the Coachella Valley Water District was highly supportive by donating the services of an equipment operator and a frontloader. The City furnished lunch for the volunteers with gift certificates discounted by Mcdonalds. All parents and students felt the project was positive and worthwhile. Parents and staff of both organizations expressed their approval by indicating that they look forward to working with the City in the near future on community projects of this nature. Total amount of illegally dumped debris collected from the both sites on both dates was 28.46 tons. REVIEWED AND CONCUR: ISA V. CONSTANDE BRUCE A.
