When we began almost four years ago, the best Fiona„A.Brady estimate was that fewer than 2 out of 100 patients left the hospital to resume "lick saw„ralro„ normal lives. This contrasts with as many as 50% survivors in communities like OFFICERS Rochester, Minnesota in which the use of automated defibrillators has increased President/Chid Laconic. You may be aware of the joint Institute-Riverside County Health Department "Heart Party" held in February in conjunction with the Date Festival at which we trained 500 residents. We would like to participate in this project because of its medical-scientific import. If we are successful applicants, we shall be able to have 12 additional sites in Riverside county, including 6 sites in the Coachella Valley_ Sites that we have chosen include communities which would not otherwise be able to fund automated defibrillators and the cost of training and materials. It is for these reasons that we ask you to help us document Community-Wide support for our joint governmentallnon-profit Institute's efforts. Since Palm Deseret is one of three Coachella Valley Communities proposed for this support, your Council's endorsement is particularly important. Both Supervisor Wilson and the City of India have also committed such letters of support. Your letter of support would best be addressed jointly to me and also to Mr. Michael Osur, the Director of Emergency Medical Services for Riverside County, for we jointly serve as Principals for our respective entities. We were allowed only two weeks to complete our application and the deadline for submission is May 15. If at all possible, we would be grateful for a letter that we may include with the packet to be sent prior to May 15. However, if such would not be possible, we may submit the letter as a supplement prior to May 22. We sincerely appreciate your generous consideration. Sincerely you MI-IW:lg cc: Ms. Jeanne Parrish Mr. Dale Gribow
