Date: February 24, 2000 Recommendation: By Minute Motion, approve the request from Soroptimist International of Palm Desert to fund the use of three kleig lights at a cost not to exceed$900.00 for use in its fourth annual"Art&Wine Tour of El Paseo,"to be held on March 3, 2000. Discussion: Last year, the El Paseo Business Association, Soroptimist International of Palm Desert, five art galleries, and the City of Palm Desert sponsored the third annual "Art& Wine Tour of El Paseo". The event was again very successful. This year, the City of Palm Desert will be recognized as a sponsor once again. I have attached a copy of the event flier which also lists the participating galleries. Those attending the event will be transported along El Paseo by a Shopper Hopper. Sonia Campbell, Member of Soroptimist International of Palm Desert, has confirmed the use of this vehicle with Sunline Transit Agency. At each gallery, people will be able to browse the fine art on display, sample many varieties of wine and champagne, and enjoy appetizers provided by El Paseo's chefs. The tour of the galleries is completely self-directed,so participants can begin at any gallery and enjoy the event at their own pace.
