1. CALL TO ORDER
A Regular Meeting of the Public Safety Committee was called to order by Chair Alley on
May 14, 2024, at 3:31 p.m. in the Administrative Conference Room, City Hall, located at
73-510 Fred Waring Drive, Palm Desert, California.

6.a SCHEDULED ROAD WORK DURING SPECIAL EVENTS
Deputy Director of Public Works Chavez presented current procedures of the
scheduling of road work and road closures during special events and answered
member inquiries. Feedback was provided, no formal action was taken.

7.b CITY COUNCIL LIAISON
Councilmember Kelly provided an update on Budget Study Sessions and invited
the Committee to attend the upcoming City Budget Town Hall meetings.
7.c POLICE/FIRE
7.c.1 POLICE
Lt. Porras, of Riverside County Sheriff Department, provided department
updates, spoke about recent significant incidents, and answered member
inquiries.
7.c.2 FIRE
Battalion Chief Kotz, of Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department,
provided department updates, spoke about recent significant incidents,
and answered member inquiries.

7.d CITY STAFF
Homeless and Support Services Manager Tenorio, Public Safety Analyst Hurtado
and Deputy Clerk Nance provided updates on the following items:
• FY 2024/25 Budget Study Session Update
• Catalytic Convert Ordinance Update
• Introduction of Ivan Tenorio, Homeless and Support Services Manager
• Summer Recess

Report provided; no action taken on this item.
