DATE: January 10, 2002 CONTENTS: REQUEST BY THE DESERT ROSE SOCIETY Recommendation By Minute Motion, waive fees associated with the Desert Rose Society's annual pruning exhibition scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 12, 2002, in the Rose Garden located at the Palm Desert Civic Center Park. Executive Summary Each year the Desert Rose Society sponsors a pruning exhibition at the Rose Garden located at the Palm Desert Civic Center Park. The purpose of this demonstration is to educate members of the community who might be interested in this type of activity as well as prepare the Rose Garden located on the City of Palm Desert's property for the upcoming season. Background Each year, the Desert Rose Society sponsors and presents a pruning demonstration for interested individuals throughout the Coachella Valley. In order to facilitate this year's activity, which is conducted by experts in this field, staff assistance will be required. Since this non-profit organization maintains the Rose Garden, located at the Civic Center Park, staff requests that the City Council waive fees of$120 for a Maintenance Worker($40 an hour for three hours). In return for this consideration, the City of Palm Desert will be recognized as an event sponsor in all publicity and materials.
