Re: FEE WAIVER
Recommendation:
By Minute Motion, approve the request of Washington Charter School for a waiver of fees for use of the
Civic Center Amphitheater and Pavilion I on May 19,2001.
Executive Summary:
An affirmative vote will waive the Park usage and administrative fees for the Washington Charter School
Parent Club Foundation to hold this event in the Civic Center Park. A negative vote will require that these
fees be paid in the amount of$190.00.
Background:
Washington Charter School formed a Ballet Folklorico Dance Troupe seven years ago. This year the
participation and professionalism of the dancers has progressed to a point that the school's Parent Club
Foundation would like to sponsor an evening performance for the enjoyment of family and friends.
This performance would open to the public at no cost and the request of the Washington Charter School
Parent Club Foundation is that fees for administration,reservation of a picnic pavilion,and one Maintenance
Worker for three hours,on May 19,2001, at a total cost of$190.00,be waived.
Give the ity's continuing support of Palm Desert youth and the various benefits of assisting with the
pro. cti n of this performance, staff recommends that appropriate fees be waived.

RE: REQUEST FOR APPROVAL FOR WAIVER OF FEES ASSOCIATED
WITH WCS FOLKLORICO DANCE TROUPE PERFORMANCE
We appreciate very much the City of Palm Desert assisting us with our Washington
Charter School (WCS) Fiesta for the past two years. This event has been tremendously
successful. Last year 80 students performed and approximately 500 WCS family
members attended.
Once again we are seeking your support by permitting our school to utilize the Palm
Desert Civic Center Amphitheater and adjacent park pavilion and by waiving all
associated fees for a school performance on Saturday, May 19th, 2001 from 4:00 p.m. —
8:30 p.m. (including set-up time). This year we have four separate dance troupes with
students in grades Kindergarten through fifth. We will be inviting the families of these
students as well as the entire school community to attend. We will not be advertising this
event to the public.
