RE: City of Palm Desert: Funding for Bridge for the Cook Street crossing over the Whitewater Channel
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing in support of the City of Palm Desert’s application for some community Project Funding to allow them to facilitate a bridge installation request for Cook Street as it crosses
the Whitewater Channel. We support the City’s efforts to analyze, design and construct the most cost-effective, elevated bridge possible to ensure full access during all storm events.
This project is critical to the City of Palm Desert as Cook Street is a vital arterial that provides vehicle access in all types of emergencies. This vital corridor must always remain
unimpeded, especially during the onslaught of extreme storms and flooding events, such as Tropical Storm Hilary in August 2023. These events are occurring ever more frequently in our
region, and the residents, guests, and emergency personnel should be able to safely traverse these washes with adequate infrastructure.
For these reasons, the Coachella Valley of Associated Governments (CVAG) is proud to support the City of Palm Desert application to the GRANT PROGRAM. For any additional information
