RE: City of Palm Desert: Funding for Emergency Resiliency in Palm Desert
Dear Senator Padilla, Senator Butler, and Congressmember Calvert,
I am writing in support of the City of Palm Desert’s application to create a Emergency Resiliency Plan for the City to prevent future catastrophic disaster events. The City was highly
impacted by Tropical Storm Hilary in August 2023, which caused an estimated $7 billion in damagers to our region. An emergency resiliency plan will allow the City to prioritize and
develop critical emergency resiliency projects and programs within our City, to ensure we are better equipped for future climate and disaster events.
This project will fund a critical need in our community and provide much needed funding for our infrastructure.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Karina Quintanilla
Mayor
City of Palm Desert
