The City is seeking funds to build and improve bicycle lanes throughout the City per the Coachella Valley Association of Government’s Active Transportation Plan. This grant would establish citywide bicycle connectivity with the CV Link Trail system and provide planning for local neighborhood access to schools. Successful implementation of this project would make Palm Desert a safer and more multimodal community, help reduce our vehicle emissions, improve public health, and provide more opportunity for residents and visitors to get around without getting into a car. James Carter Elementary School has a student population of over 550 and serves kindergarten through fifth grade. Our primary goals at Carter Elementary are to cultivate an enthusiasm for learning in a safe and caring atmosphere; challenge all learners; encourage students, staff, parents, and the community to share in the responsibility for the education of our children. We fully support the City’s grant application for the betterment of this community. Sincerely, Michael Williams Michael Williams Principal
