Re: Letter of Support for Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Application
To Whom It May Concern:
It is my understanding the City of Palm Desert is applying for funds through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program.
The City is seeking funds to build and improve bicycle lanes throughout the City per the Coachella Valley Association of Government’s Active Transportation Plan. This grant would establish
citywide bicycle connectivity with the CV Link Trail system and provide planning for local neighborhood access to schools. Successful implementation of this project would make Palm
Desert a safer and more multimodal community, help reduce our vehicle emissions, improve public health, and provide more opportunity for residents and visitors to get around without
getting into a car.
Abraham Lincoln Elementary School has a student population of over 500 and serves kindergarten through fifth grade. Our school is an integral route located just south along the recently
completed CV Link Trail System. We look forward to seeing how the active transportation can continually build around our campus.
We fully support the City’s grant application for the betterment of this community.
Sincerely,
Craig Christensen
