Re: Letter of Support for Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Application
To Whom It May Concern:
It is my understanding the City of Palm Desert is applying for funds through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program.
The City is seeking funds to build and improve bicycle lanes throughout the City per the Coachella Valley Association of Government’s Active Transportation Plan. This grant would establish
citywide bicycle connectivity with the CV Link Trail system and provide planning for local neighborhood access to schools. Successful implementation of this project would make Palm
Desert a safer and more multimodal community, help reduce our vehicle emissions, improve public health, and provide more opportunity for residents and visitors to get around without
getting into a car.
Palm Desert Charter Middle School (PDCMS) has a student population of over 1,300 and serves grades 6 through 8. PDCMS is a dynamic educational community focusing on STEAM and is a California
Gold Ribbon School. In previous years, PDCMS has twice been named a California Distinguished School and was also selected, out of hundreds of schools across the country, as an Intel
School of Distinction in Science.
We fully support the City’s grant application for the betterment of this community.
Sincerely,
Deborah Dolan
