The City is seeking funds to build and improve bicycle lanes throughout the City per the Coachella Valley Association of Government’s Active Transportation Plan. This grant would establish citywide bicycle connectivity with the CV Link Trail system and provide planning for local neighborhood access to schools. Successful implementation of this project would make Palm Desert a safer and more multimodal community, help reduce our vehicle emissions, improve public health, and provide more opportunity for residents and visitors to get around without getting into a car. The YMCA of the Desert is the largest provider of licensed childcare in the Coachella Valley, with facilities from Rancho Mirage to Indio. We also provide a variety of programs, camps, and other events and activities for members of our community. We fully support the City’s grant application for the betterment of this community. Sincerely, Paula Simonds Paula Simonds Chief Executive Officer
