Re: Letter of Support for Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Application
To Whom It May Concern:
It is my understanding the City of Palm Desert is applying for funds through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program.
The City is seeking funds to build and improve bicycle lanes throughout the City per the Coachella Valley Association of Government’s Active Transportation Plan. This grant would establish
citywide bicycle connectivity with the CV Link Trail system and provide planning for local neighborhood access to schools. Successful implementation of this project would make Palm
Desert a safer and more multimodal community, help reduce our vehicle emissions, improve public health, and provide more opportunity for residents and visitors to get around without
getting into a car.
For over 70 years, the Desert Recreation District (District) has enriched the quality of life for residents through recreational services in the Greater Coachella Valley, including Palm
Desert. We cover over 1,800 square miles and provide recreational services to more than 380,000 residents, in part by working with municipalities in a collective effort to assure equitable
service delivery to every community regardless of economic means.
We fully support the City’s grant application for the betterment of this community.
Sincerely,
Maureen Archuleta
