Dear SB1383 Grantee,
For a 3-bin collection system, the purchase of bins dedicated for organic waste (green bin) and mixed recyclables (blue bin) which
includes collection of cardboard, paper and other compostable material, are eligible. If the blue bin is solely for the collection of beverage
containers, this portion would not be eligible with SB1383 grant funding and must be covered with other available grants (Beverage
Container Recycling City/County Payment program).
Examples:
If a grantee plans to purchase 3-bin collection bin setup, which includes green organics collection bin, blue mixed recyclables collection
bin which is intended to include cardboard and paper, and a gray landfill material collection bin, then the grantee may apply no more than
2/3 cost of the multiple bin setup to this grant.
If a 3-bin system includes green organics collection bin, blue bottles and cans collection bin and gray landfill material collection bin, the
grantee may apply no more than 1/3 of the cost to this grant.
