The City of Palm Desert currently contracts with FIND Food Bank to provide recovery efforts to all Tier 1 and Tier 2 generators within our jurisdiction. FIND is the only edible food
recovery organization with the capacity to service both Tier levels in our area and provides the following services:
• Food recovery contract management for each generator, including program establishment and coordination
• Food rescue management including food rescue logistics, donation,and transportation; receipts for possible tax deductions, and food distribution and site training
• Food rescue volunteer program management, to include training and coordination
• Food rescue mobile app platform management
• Baseline report of lbs. rescued by establishment
• Ongoing quarterly reports of lbs. rescued by establishment to jurisdiction and lbs. rescued to establishment
Additionally, during this reporting period, the City and FIND staff conducted a third round of education and outreach to non-compliant Tier 2 generators in the form of in-person visits,
where requirements were discussed and an informational letter was provided.
During this period, FIND produced a video highlighting the simplicity of food donations, which featured an interview with a local restaurant owner. The video emphasized the importance
of the program and the benefits of making donations.
