The City of Palm Desert currently contracts with FIND Food Bank to provide recovery efforts to all Tier 1 and Tier 2 generators within our jurisdiction. FIND is the only edible food
recovery organization with the capacity to service both Tier levels in our area and provides the following services:
• Food recovery contract management for each generator, including program establishment and coordination
• Food rescue management including food rescue logistics, donation,and transportation; receipts for possible tax deductions, and food distribution and site training
• Food rescue volunteer program management, to include training and coordination
• Food rescue mobile app platform management
• Baseline report of lbs. rescued by establishment
• Ongoing quarterly reports of lbs. rescued by establishment to jurisdiction and lbs. rescued to establishment
Additionally, during this reporting period, the City and FIND staff conducted more education and outreach site visits to non-compliant Tier 2 generators in the form of in-person visits,
where requirements were discussed and an informational letter was provided. While not connected to the grant, during this reporting period, issuance of NOVs began to non-compliant edible
food generators.
