1. CALL TO ORDER - STUDY SESSION
A Study Session of the Palm Desert City Council was called to order by Mayor Trubee
on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 2:30 p.m., in the Council Chamber, City Hall, located at
73-510 Fred Waring Drive, Palm Desert, California.
2. STUDY SESSION TOPICS
2.a UPDATE ON THE DINING DECK PROGRAM
Carlos Flores, Deputy Director of Development Services, narrated a PowerPoint
presentation and responded to City Council inquiries.
Councilmembers provided feedback on the program’s expiration, with an
emphasis on exploring long-term outdoor dining solutions. The City Council
directed staff to keep the business community informed of timelines and future
planning efforts.
2.b OVERVIEW AND PROVIDE DIRECTION ON PARK IMPROVEMENT
PROJECTS
Randy Chavez, Director of Public Works, narrated a PowerPoint presentation
and responded to City Council inquiries.
Councilmembers provided feedback in support of the updated engagement
process, highlighting the earlier City Council review of cost estimates as
responsible fiscal stewardship.
2.c PRESENTATION REGARDING POTENTIAL UPDATES TO THE PALM
DESERT MUNICIPAL CODE RELATED TO USE OF THE CITY LOGO AND
PROVIDE DIRECTION REGARDING POTENTIAL UPDATES TO MUNICIPAL
CODE LANGUAGE AND THE STATUS OF PRIOR CITY SEAL REDESIGN
DISCUSSIONS
Thomas Soule, Public Affairs Manager, narrated a PowerPoint presentation and
responded to City Council inquiries.
Councilmembers provided feedback on the City Seal, with majority support for
retaining it as is and consensus on codifying usage of both the City logo and seal
in the municipal code.

3. ADJOURNMENT
The City Council adjourned the Study Session at 3:00 p.m.
