Minutes
June 25, 2026.
Present: Councilmember Jan Harnik, Councilmember Gina Nestande, Mayor Evan
Trubee, Councilmember Karina Moreno*, Mayor Pro Tem Joe Pradetto
*Councilmember Moreno participated remotely in accordance with Senate Bill
707 due to illness.
1. CALL TO ORDER - STUDY SESSION
A Study Session of the Palm Desert City Council was called to order by Mayor Trubee
on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., in the Council Chamber, City Hall, located at
73-510 Fred Waring Drive, Palm Desert, California.
2. STUDY SESSION TOPICS
2.a Palm Desert Views Analysis
Carlos Flores, Deputy Director of Development Services, introduced Amee Bhatt
with John Kaliski Architects, who narrated a PowerPoint presentation and
responded to City Council inquiries.
During discussion, the following items were discussed:
• Including San Pablo as a key corridor for view protection;
• Balancing view protection with future development opportunities while
avoiding overly restrictive standards;
• Establishing clear and predictable design guidelines to provide certainty for
developers and staff; and
• Balancing the preservation of mature trees and shade with the protection of
mountain views.
3. ADJOURNMENT
The City Council adjourned the Study Session at 3:28 p.m.
