PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
CASE NO. CUP-26-0004
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Development Services Department has received a request to
renovate an existing single-family home to accommodate a Residential Care Facility at 44277 Portola
Avenue. Assisted Living Facilities are subject to Planning Commission approval (meeting date to
be determined). Prior to Planning Commission, the project requires a design review by the Palm
Desert Architectural Review Commission (ARC) pursuant to PDMC § 25.68.020.
PROJECT LOCATION: 44277 Portola Avenue
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: CUP-26-0004 (the project) is located at 44277 Portola Drive between
Santa Rosa Way and Catalina Way on one parcel (APN: 627-131-053) that has an area of 0.48
acres (20,758 SF) and already contains a 6,130 square foot Licensed Residential Care Facility for
the Elderly (RCFE) that serves 10 clients. The applicant proposes adding 3,293 SF to the existing
structure to provide a total area of 9,423 square feet and serve an additional 5 clients. Once
finished, the remodeled facility will have a total of 9,423 square feet, 15-clients, and seven
employees. The facility will offer skilled care for 15-persons over 65 who cannot live independently.
A Sign Design Review Application has also been submitted as part of the project for an
identification monument sign.
PUBLIC HEARING: The Architectural Review Commission will hold a Public Hearing to consider the
Design Review at its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 12:30 p.m.
in the Administrative Conference Room at Palm Desert City Hall, located at 73510 Fred Waring
Drive, Palm Desert, California, and via Zoom teleconference. The agenda for this meeting is
available on the City of Palm Desert website at: https://www.palmdesert.gov/government/meetings
PUBLIC REVIEW: The plans and related documents are available for public review Monday through
Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. by contacting the project planner, Kayleen Aguirre. Please submit
written comments to the Planning Division. If any group challenges the action in court, issues raised
may be limited to only those issues raised at the public hearing described in this notice or in written
correspondence at or prior to the Architectural Review Commission hearing. All comments and any
