SUBJECT: PORTOLA OFFICE/RETAIL COMPLEX LANDSCAPE
DATE: October 3, 1991
It is recommended that a review of the installed landscape at the Portola
Office/Retail Complex and the approved landscape plan 02/02/90 for this project
be made.
This recommendation is based upon the following observations:
1 . Parkinsonia aculeata-palo verde is not a recommended parking lot tree.
2. 01 Washingtonia robusta - mexican fan palm at building "A", is planted under
the buildings roof over hana.
3. At building C north west end, the landscape plan specifies 09 Washingtonia
filifera - California fan palm. However, only 02 W. filifera are planted.
In addition, 03 Jacaranda acutifolia Jacaranda are planted in place of the
other missing 07 Washingonia filifera.
4. At Building C west side, 02 Cercidiurn praecox - sonoran palo verde multi-
trunk have been replaced with 02 Jacaranda acutifolia.
5. -- At buildings A & B the Carnegia gigantea - saguaro were not planted.
6. All Chamaerops humilis - mediterranean fan palms are smaller than the 30"
box multitrunk material specified on the landscape plan.
7. On the west side of building C Leucophyllum frutescens - Texan ranger has
been planted along the sidewalk. The growth characteristics exihibited by
this plant and the location suggest the selection of another plant which is
more suitable, ie. Baccharis centennial .

8. At building B, the Lysiloma thornbergi - feather bush are considered in
appropriate for the locations when the growth characteristics are taken into
consideration.
Finally the landscape now installed doesn't represent the product proposed on the
originally approved landscape plan.
