The meeting was called to order at 4:40 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Palm Desert City Hall . II. Members Present: Paul A. Williams George Minturn Frank Urrutia Mike Buccino Jim Hill � Members Absent: Bernard Leung Bill Hobbs Others Present: Steve Fleshman L III. The minutes of the meeting of December 21, 1977, were approved as submitted. (Motion by Williams, seconded by Minturn, vote 4-0). IV. CASE N0. 52MF, DEEP CANYON LTD. , APPLICANT Request for preliminary approval of site plan, elevations, floor plans, and landscaping. The DRB discussed the park location and size. Mr. Buccino felt that the park should be in the center of the project. Mr. Williams and Mr. Minturn disagreed. P�r. l��illiams felt that the park should be placed where it could be expanded. Mr. Minturn was against the date palms. There were no objec- tions to the elevations or the floor plans. Generally, the DRB was in favor of the project; however, they did want to see how the rights-of-way would be treated within the project and along 44th Avenue and Deep Canyon. "�"" On a motion by Mr. Minturn and seconded by Mr. Buccino, the DRB voted 3-0 to approve the project. Urrutia abstained. V. CASE N0. 46C, ROBERT GOODEN, APPLICANT Request for preliminary approval of a 160 room resort hotel development. The DRB felt that the project and the presentation were good. There was some concern as to the amount of landscaping in the rear of the hotel . The DRB noted that there was a deficiency in parking and felt that there should be more parking next to the restaurant. On a motion by Mr. Buccino, and seconded by Mr. Minturn, the DRB voted 3-0 to approve the project. Urrutia abstained. VI . CASE N0. 40MF, SILVER SPUR ASSOCIATES, APPLICA�lT Final construction drawings for 130 units at Ironwood. Approved 4-0, on a motion by Mr. Minturn, seconded by Mr. Buccino. �,,, VII. CASE N0. 53MF, LASZLO SANDOR, APPLICANT Request for preliminary approval of a 4-unit apartment complex. On a motion by Mr. Buccino, seconded by Mr. Minturn, the DRB voted to reject the plans for the following reasons. 1) too many driveways 2) more study of the Ocotillo frontage is needed. _ _ �_ ;,�,; � VIII. CASE N0. 21SA, JOHN McCORMICK, APPLICANT Request for approval of a new attraction board for the Geronimo' s Restaurant. On a motion by Mr. Minturn, seconded by Mr. Buccino, the DRQ voted to approve a new sign program. The vote was 4-0 and the approval is subject to the revisions. IX. CASE N0. 48MF, AFFILIATED CONSTRUCTION COMPAPJY, APPLICANT '�► Request for approval of final construction drawings for five (5) model homes.
